A good way to end the night is to have that one last drink in a place that is warm, soothing, servers good drinks and is a little bit on the cool, hip side. We found such a place in the Lovers of Today. Around the corner from the much busier and packed Niagara (both owned by the same people), you get stopped by a big bouncer type right in front of a narrow iron gate that leads to stairs going down into an alleyway. I guess for all intents and purposes, it could be called a speakeasy. But for us, after a night of Patron Silver and Karaoke at Sing Sing, it was a welcome sight to slow down and just enjoy the company of good friends.
The bar is a relatively small space with room for only really 30 people. But, like most similar establishments (a la Little Branch), the decor and the bartenders are all there to evoke that old fashioned speakeasy feel. The drinks were generous and on the mark. I started with the Hong Kong Garden which had gin, lime and some sort of pepper. I probably could do without the spiciness of the drink but I could see how that would appeal with some others. Having switched to my old standard of gin and ginger, I could settle down and focus on the ambiance and the feel of the place. It was darkly lit with quiet conversation in every nook. It would be a perfect place to take a date or just sit and have drinks with friends.
Overall, for us, it was a good way to top of a good night. For those of you who are looking for those neat, out of the way places in NYC, I would recommend a visit here.

The place gets tougher and rough when the bouncers or event security Bristol are that many. I read that they hire more bouncer and additional guards during an event.
