Dell'Anima on Urbanspoon

We first discovered this place when we were craving a late night snack and while we thought we wanted burgers from Corner Bistro, we changed our minds once we got there.  Dell'Anima is located just across the street and while they only offered their pasta dishes that late at night, they were enough to have me come back again and again.

Dell'Anima is great casual dining spot in the heart of the West Village.  Like I mentioned above, the pasta dishes have become a reliable source of comfort during any time of day for me (served until 2 AM).  The bolognese is superb and not overly heavy or greasy. If you decide to try two pasta dishes at the same time, then the trofie and puttanesca are not far behind. The wine selection is excellent and will probably offer something for everyone's tastes.  I try to stick to the Barolo's by the glass but that could get pricey.  If you want to venture away from their pasta then they offer a wide range of Italian classics and you can't go wrong with any selection.

Try to sit at the chef's table or bar to get a full range of the experience. The staff is also friendly, warm and knowledgeable whether it's your first or tenth time to visit. The combination of all these factors makes Dell'Anima a place that you can just sit and enjoy a drink with good friends, order food as you get hungry and lose a few hours because you don't notice them pass by.
