For my mom's birthday, she wanted to go to a place that my two young nieces really enjoy. Sakura is one of those typical Japanese steakhouses where the chef puts on a show tables side while he cooks. My nieces really enjoy watching him create food volcanoes, complete with fire and chopping up ingredients at blurring speeds. The quality of the food is little sub par at Sakura and everything is doused with so much soy sauce and oyster sauce that the natural flavors of the food have a hard time coming through. The vegetables are generally over cooked and overall the meal isn't something that will light up your taste buds.
I do admit though, the place is a ton of fun. Watching my nieces really enjoy the cooks doing their knife tricks, spinning the eggs, the onion volcano and trying to land a piece of shrimp into their mouths is simply priceless. Sometimes, you simply don't go to a restaurant for the food. Sometimes, you go to see the joy in a child's eye and the enjoyment in their smiles.
Hi, can you tell me about the ambiance of the restaurant? And more about the taste of the food? Thanks.
